Accidents happen. Often, the smallest misstep can lead to a big fall or injury – but when is a head bump is just a little bruise, and when is it worth rushing to the emergency room? The fact is that you should never take a head injury too lightly – rather be safe than sorry.

A minor head injury usually reveals itself through a series of symptoms:

Slight dizziness or spinning sensation

Light-headedness

If these symptoms get worse or are worse, it’s time to start seeking urgent medical attention. Let’s look at the symptoms of a serious head injury:
- Seizures
- Loss of consciousness
- Vomiting
- Trouble balancing
- Serious confusion
- Strange mood changes
- Very bad or on-going headache
- Feeling disorientated
- Loss of memory
- Struggling to focus your eyes
- Strange eye movements
- Losing muscle control
- Any water or fluid running from the ear or nose
